MAX LOG LIFT

Athletes have 60 seconds to perform a single clean and press, with weight increasing each round until the last person standing. 

 

Rules: The log must be cleaned from the pads to the chest and then pressed overhead to lock out and wait for the down signal to complete the rep. It must be a controlled down to the floor/pads.

Athletes will be using a wooden 11" log. The logs are currently available for use at Base Gym Bristol.

 

Equipment allowed: grip tops, wrist wraps, liquid chalk (can use coloured chalk), neoprene shorts, knee and elbow sleeves, under belt (neoprene), any lifting belt and suitable shoes must be worn at all times during the lift (lifting shoes, flats or supported trainers). 

 

Equipment NOT allowed: cushioned shoes/trainers, work boots, talc powder, tacky or sticky substances on hands or top.

 

DEADLIFT FOR REPS

Athletes have 60 seconds to perform as many deadlifts as they can.

 

Rules: The bar must start from the floor and be lifted to full extension. The deadlift will be on a stiff standard Olympic barbell. Moderate hitching is allowed, but unsafe lifting will not be allowed. If the referees deem lifting to be unsafe, athletes will be required to lift again, or will be disqualified from the event if continued unsafe lifting occurs.

 

Equipment allowed: lifting straps, figure-eight straps, liquid chalk (can use coloured chalk), neoprene shorts, knee and elbow sleeves, under belt (neoprene), any lifting belt, and socks or shoes must be worn.

 

Equipment NOT allowed: cushioned shoes/trainers, work boots, any deadlift aids (e.g. deadlift suits), talc powder and tacky.

 

SANDBAG CARRY & LOAD

Athletes have 60 seconds to carry and load two sandbags over a yoke bar.

 

Rules: The event will take place on an indoor astro turf. The first lighter bag must be carried a set distance of 15m and loaded over the bar. The second heavier sandbag must be carried and loaded over the bar within the remaining time. No dragging - sandbags must be carried. Time stops when the second sandbag is fully loaded and both hands are off the bag.

 

Equipment allowed: grip tops, grip shorts, wrist wraps, liquid chalk & normal chalk (can use coloured chalk), neoprene shorts, knee and elbow sleeves, under belt (neoprene), any lifting belt and proper shoes must be worn at all times.

 

Equipment NOT allowed: work boots, talc powder, any tacky on hands or top.

 

SANDBAG TOSS FOR MAX HEIGHT

Beginning height for all categories is 3m, rising by 0.5m after each successful throw until the last person standing.

 

Rules: Athletes have three attempts to throw a sandbag over a horizontal bar. The sandbag must clear the bar completely to count. If missed, the athlete must recover the bag and attempt again. No assistance - athletes must throw the sandbag unaided. The event will be outside on concrete/road surface.

 

Equipment allowed: wrist wraps, liquid chalk & normal chalk (can use coloured chalk), neoprene shorts, knee and elbow sleeves, under belt (neoprene), any lifting belt and proper shoes must be worn at all times (lifting shoes, flats or supported trainers).

 

Equipment NOT allowed: cushioned shoes/trainer, work boots, talc powder.

 

BASE ATLAS STONES

Athletes must load a series of atlas stones increasing in weight onto tiered platforms of decreasing height.

 

Rules: The stones must be lifted from the ground and placed onto the platform without assistance. Each stone must be fully loaded before moving to the next. Time stops when the final stone is loaded and both hands are off the stone. Tops and shoes must be worn at all times during the event (see below for full list of permitted equipment).

 

Equipment allowed: all forms of tacky (must be removed outside the gym using the cleaning station), grip tops and shorts, knee and elbow sleeves, under belt (neoprene), neoprene shorts, lifting belt, any shoes (must be worn at all times) forearm tape/wraps, stone sleeves.

 

Equipment NOT allowed: chalk (liquid or powder).
